Controversial investor and businessman Rados Petrovic, known for his close ties to Belgrade’s political structures and for rewarding him with large public tenders in North Mitrovica, is facing justice after the Construction Inspectorate in Kragujevac filed criminal charges against his company “RP Invest 1980”.
This company became the center of attention after a retaining wall and part of the road near the Center of Excellence collapsed at its construction site, even though work there was officially prohibited.
Authorities confirmed that the construction site had been closed since November 21 due to unauthorized construction, but despite this, work had continued in complete violation of the inspectorate’s decision.
In addition to questionable construction practices, Petrovic and his company are linked to dozens of multi-million projects in northern Kosovo municipalities, financed by the Serbian budget. Although in official records “RP Invest 1980” is listed as owned by Jelena Petrovic, NIN magazine has reported for years that the company is actually run by her husband, Radosh Petrovic, who has been linked to several construction companies including “RP Euro Invest” and other entities that have dominated public tenders in North Mitrovica and Serbia.
Through projects in northern Kosovo alone, these companies are reported to have built over 1.000 housing units and secured major contracts, including complexes for Serb returnees, road infrastructure, and public facilities. These projects have made RP Invest one of the most favored companies in Belgrade-controlled areas.
The company’s financial growth has been equally unusual: from just 11 million dinars in its first year of registration in Serbia, the company has reached over 1.86 billion dinars in revenue in 2024, raising doubts about the manner and sources of its rapid expansion.
Furthermore, the figure of Radosh Petrovic has been frequently mentioned in sensitive political and security events in northern Kosovo.
In footage published by the media in May 2023, during the day when KFOR forces were attacked in Zvecan, he was identified among the people present at the scene, which has increased questions about his role and connections in organized structures in northern Kosovo.KosovaPress.
