    400kg of fent is enough to kill around 200 MILLION people. This is absolutely staggering. Over 8,000 arrests… this has to be one of the biggest operations in history? Huge congratulations to all the police involved in this.

    I have a feeling half of the arrested are either out on bail, or will be released back into the community, and there will be silence from the LPC caucus. I think it would be helpful to see a cross section of the 8,000 arrested and who they are, how they got to Canada, whether they are citizens etc.

    >**But officials detailing the results of the blitz — dubbed the National Fentanyl Sprint 2.0 —stressed on Tuesday that Canada is still not a major exporter of the drug, despite concerns raised by the U.S. administration.**

  3. That appointment of a Fentanyl czar is paying dividends already. Shame we didnt crack down on this criminality years ago.

    If this happened in most Asian countries, there would be capital punishment. That is why they don’t have a drug problem and we do.

    7,995 will be out on bail within the following 1-2 months and the cycle continues

    Start building El Salvador like prisons and start locking these people up for long terms.

    Not a Pierre fan but this should absolutely be the law ““If someone is not a citizen, not a Canadian, and commits a crime, then they should be shown the door.”

    I mean, what would that poll at? 95%. Crazy we need an election to make that a law.

  8. “Canada still not a major exporter, officials say, calling fentanyl a domestic issue”

    A lethal dose of fentanyl is about 2 mg, so 386 kg is about 193 million lethal doses, enough to kill every Canadian and half of the USA. Therefore, I question whether the official is correct to claim this is a purely domestic issue.

    That’s nearly 200,000,000 lethal doses from 1 bust, even if you dont count the dozens of other traffickers that get away, how on earth is the market that big?

    “According to a news release, the sprint lead to 8,136 arrests and charges and the seizure of:

    * 386 kilograms of fentanyl.
    * 270 kilograms of precursor chemicals.
    * 5,989 kilograms of cocaine.
    * 1,708 kilograms of methamphetamine.
    * $13.46 million in cash.

    6 tons of cocaine. Not grown here. The South American drug cartels have a highway into this country…or maybe a sub-way?

  11. TorontoGuy6672 on

    Idea: take the 8000 people arrested and drop them off in Venezuela where the 6 tons of cocaine came from.

  12. >The fentanyl-focused sprint took place from May to October, involved more than 100 police agencies across Canada and targeted fentanyl traffickers, production labs, distribution networks and financial enablers.

    Just for the people who won’t read the article and assume from the poor headline that this was a massive one-off drug bust
