Türkiye’s state-owned defense contractor ASFAT has finalized an agreement to sell a warship to Romania, a landmark deal that represents the first-ever export of a Turkish warship to a fellow NATO and European Union nation, according to Turkish defense sources on Wednesday. The vessel in question is the TCG Akhisar, a corvette completed at the Istanbul Shipyard Command in 2024.
