Scandinavian airline SAS is rolling out its largest schedule in history and most of the growth will take place in Denmark, particularly Copenhagen.
Meanwhile, a series of new services have been announced at central Jutland airport Billund with low cost airline Norwegian leading the way here.
You can expect SAS to significantly ramp up its long distance services out of Copenhagen Airport from next year amid an ongoing takeover by Air France-KLM. The latter company’s CEO Ben Smith has stated that “SAS is currently underrepresented on long distance routes.”
“We want more long distance departures out of Copenhagen, because the airport doesn’t have its fair share right now. There will be growth in the number of long distance routes,” Smith said.
A new codeshare agreement with Vietnam Airlines and direct flight to Ho Chi Minh City was announced in November, with the first flight departing on December 15th this year.

A headline new domestic flight starting next year is the launch of a low emissions service between Copenhagen and Aalborg, operated by Norwegian.
Norwegian will introduce the flight from March next year, using what is described as “green fuel” for the Copenhagen-Aalborg domestic connection.
The flight will use Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), a renewable alternative to traditional jet fuel made from sources such as waste oils, agricultural residues, or other sustainable feedstocks.
The fuel type can significantly reduce carbon emissions over its lifecycle compared with conventional fossil-based aviation fuel.
This article will be updated on an ongoing basis. Are there any new flights we’ve not yet included? Let us know in the comments.
