POMEROY, Ohio (WTAP) – Wolfe Mountain Entertainment will present “It’s a Wonderful Life, a live radio play” next weekend at New Beginnings United Methodist Church.
The production runs Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Dec. 12-14 at the church located at 112 East 2nd Street in Pomeroy, Ohio.
Dan Dunham of Wolfe Mountain Entertainment said the show differs from traditional theater productions because audiences will see actors performing with scripts while a sound effects person creates noises live on stage, similar to 1940s radio shows.
“They have their scripts and they’re dropping papers on the floor, and you’ve got some person over in the corner making the noises as it goes along,” Dunham said.
Cast and sponsorship details
Tiffany Rife plays Mary Bailey, George’s wife, in the production. She said the actors still perform theatrically despite the radio play format.
Path Behavioral Healthcare sponsors this year’s production. The organization plans to open a Parkersburg office next month, Dunham said.
“Everybody deals with mental health. This show showcases it and shows that it’s okay,” Dunham said.
Ticket information and pre-show
Tickets cost $12 and are available at wolfemountain.com or at the door. The venue seats 100-125 people.
A pre-show called “Super Christmas” will feature performers ages 5 through ninth grade. The production tells the story of superheroes learning about a new hero coming to save the world.
Wolfe Mountain Entertainment will donate a portion of ticket sales, and all concession proceeds to the Mulberry Center, which addresses food insecurity, and the Pomeroy dog shelter.
Parking is available at the levee and in nearby lots. Dunham advised arriving early due to limited parking.
