Despite criticism from the European Union for cooperation with Russia, Serbia is continuing to strengthen ties with the Russian state.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that he had an open and constructive conversation with the Russian Ambassador to Belgrade, Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko, focusing on the most important issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

According to him, the discussion had a special emphasis on the field of energy, which remains one of the most strategic sectors for the development and economic stability of Serbia, reports nova.rs.

“We have reviewed joint projects that are of strategic importance to our country, including infrastructure investments and energy projects that will contribute to strengthening our energy system. We also discussed opportunities for a sustainable supply of natural gas, as well as projects that will provide sustainable energy for citizens and businesses,” he wrote on Instagram.

He also emphasized that he strongly believes that through open dialogue, sincere cooperation and respect for common interests, Serbia and Russia will continue to develop strong relations, which guarantee security, stability and predictability for the country.

Vučić added that these relations not only affect the economic field, but are also important for the political stability and future of the region.

He concluded by underlining the importance of building relationships based on mutual trust and respect, which according to him are the foundation of a long-term and fruitful cooperation between the two countries. /Telegraph/
