Hey guys! I moved to Cyprus a few months ago. And have Got bitten on my foot 3–4 days ago. It started small but has kept getting redder, more swollen and bigger every day. Today the red area is ~10 cm and still spreading (marked the edge this morning – already past the line). My Partner thinks it’s a spider, I think mosquito.
Does this look normal for Cyprus mosquitoes or should I go to a doctor/pharmacy?
Thanks you <3

I have never had a mosquito bite this bad. Look it would never hurt to visit a doctor and 10cm red area is quite large. Maybe put some cream on it tonight and see a doctor tomorrow (or at least a pharmacy). Don’t skip it though, especially since it gets worse
I’ve never had a mosquito bite look like that. They look infected. Go to a doctor.
“Spider bite” is kind of a meaningless phrase unless you actually saw a spider bite you. People attribute all kinds of things as spider bites, but spiders mostly don’t bite people on random flat surfaces.
This is NOT normal, go see a doctor
Once I had such a bite, i was walking and suddenly got a similar red spot, it was itchy and hurt a bit. Symptoms are individual, so it’s really better see a doctor or at least ask a pharmacist.
I don’t know what was it, definitely not a mosquito, it could be a small fly.
I have those a week later, after getting bitten by mosquitoes. In Limassol, it affects me a lot compared to Larnaca. Taking antihistamines helps
Could be an infected mosquito, or you might have developed some sort of allergy to insect bites. Not medical advice, but I would suggest treatment with some fucicort cream. If it does bot subside and it’s hot to the touch and/or painful I would suggest a quick pharmacy visit. They might give you some antihistamine to take in the case of said allergy.
Spider
Those look like an allergic reaction. I’ve had the same reaction when a specific (probably invasive breed, as I never had them as a child nor have a reaction like this to every mosquito bite) type of mosquito bite me. They tend to stay up to 1 month and they itch a lot. Better to go pharmacy so they can give you something to heal it faster.
I get the same, particularly around the ankles and shin. Can take a couple of weeks to heal, really itchy while healing, and then left with a dark scar area which is still there months later, despite being completely healed over.

Scorpion sting… you guys have scorpions there, right?
It’s a fly bite, not mosquito. I have the same reaction.
Malaria is calling
If you want relief until you see a doctor, try fusicort. It’s the one that works for my kids when they get bitten by mosquitoes (some cause them allergic reactions, especially my youngest). It’s a combination of antibiotic cream and corticosteroids, to stop both the itching and the cause of it.
For general reference: Don’t use fusicort for simple mosquito bites as it can lead to antibiotics resistance
I know everyone has mentioned a different insect at this point, but I recognise these as flea bites. They are very itchy and most times will be on the lower part of your legs (unless they got you while you were lying down). Flea bites sometimes appear in clusters of 2-3 in close proximity to each other, which I can see is the case now. Stop scratching, the redness will stay much longer if you don’t leave it alone. There are some insect bite stickers you can use to stop yourself from scratching it. It will take a few days to get better.
