OBRM-PDUKM MP and member of the party’s Executive Council, Antonio Miloshoski, today emphasized that the Strategic Partnership Agreement with Britain does not foresee the construction of refugee camps in Macedonia.
With this, he denies reports in the British media that asylum seekers from the UK will remain in the country.
He emphasized that the Agreement is one of the best and most serious documents that the country has reached with a serious state like Britain and foresees joint cooperation in investments, infrastructure, security and the economy, but not refugee camps.
“This Strategic Partnership Agreement foresees certain funds with which infrastructure will be built in Macedonia. Indeed, railway projects, highways, health and energy infrastructure will be built, but, unfortunately for the opposition that is trying to spin, refugee camps will not be built. Britain, after leaving the European Union, has made such agreements with all the countries of the Western Balkans, but also with the EU itself, where Britain is restoring the legal basis of Frontex, where Macedonia and EU member states and candidate countries have a legal basis to combat organized and illegal migration and to protect the borders, Britain is doing this with this additional mechanism, which is complementary to Frontex. And finally, there is no better refutation of such spin by some opposition partners than the statement of the British ambassador, that the Britain-Macedonia strategic agreement confirms and foresees investments in infrastructure, in the economy, security and education, but “does not foresee refugee camps in Macedonia,” said Milososki.
Milososki emphasizes that all those who are trying to further distort this topic clearly lack the vision and projects they would offer so that Macedonia has more stable partners and friendly states like Great Britain.
British media reported today that Britain is negotiating to deport rejected asylum seekers to North Macedonia. According to reports, the two countries have been in formal negotiations since the fall of this year to implement this plan.
