Peacock is bringing two of the most passionate fandoms together for Sunday Night Football with Reality Hot Seat, an alternative cast like never before.
The Bravo and NFL fandoms will come together on Sunday for a Peacock simulcast of NBC Sports’ SNF featuring a matchup between the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs. At first thought, you might think these two fandoms don’t have much in common, but there’s a vision here that could pay off in a big way.
“We’re starting to see the female viewership for the NFL go up, and [Reality Hot Seat] is a way of harnessing these two huge fandoms for football and for our reality TV shows and especially coming off BravoCon and seeing the manifestation of that,” Frances Berwick, Chairman, Bravo & Peacock Unscripted, told Deadline. “It felt like a really fun way to open up the aperture for football to a much broader audience.”
Reality Hot Seat will bring together Peacock and Bravo personalities to comment on the NFL game. The panel includes The Traitors star “Boston Rob” Mariano, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Heather Gay, TV host Justin Sylvester, and Traitors and Below Deck alum Kate Chastain.
“It’s sort of a perfect combination of people who can guide you through the game and tell you what’s going on, but also have a great chat that you can’t turn away from,” Berwick said of the show’s hosts. “It’s not about explaining the game. It will be a broad conversation across the reality scape and talking about the game.”
Sylvester brings his expertise in hosting live TV, while Chastain will give her hot takes on what’s happening live. Boston Rob is set to share his views as a football aficionado, and Gay will share her takes on the game.
Special guest stars will also make an appearance throughout the alternative cast, like the Summer House cast, who are also set to share a preview for their upcoming Season 10. West Wilson will be a sideline reporter of the game.
Former Real Housewives of New York City star Luann de Lesseps is set to perform during the halftime show, and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Bronwyn Newport will share her fashion takes.
Top Chef host and The Traitors Season 4 contestant Kristen Kish will make an appearance for a cooking demo segment, preparing tailgate food with a BBQ theme.
“We’re really having a lot of fun with it, but it is about harnessing these two fan bases and doing what NBCU does best, and Peacock does best, which is leaning into the live experience,” Berwick noted. “We think we are the leaders in live experiences and bringing together sports and entertainment. This is a manifestation of how entertainment and sports really comes together across the portfolio. This is just another version of symphony where we bring these different parts of the company together to support these different audience segments and combine them. I know in live — anything can happen, which as a producer is always unnerving, but also kind of great because there will be surprises and spontaneity. And I’m sure great chaos and drama.”
There’s the Bravo fandom, the NFL fandom, but there will also be an element of the Taylor Swift fandom, too. The effect Swift has had on football is real, and with the Chiefs playing, it provides an excellent opportunity for that crossover to happen as well. On top of that, Swift’s soon-to-be mother-in-law, Donna Kelce, is one of the contestants on Peacock’s The Traitors Season 4. The mother of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will participate in the reality competition, providing a good opportunity to promote the Emmy award-winning show.
NBC has the Super Bowl in 2026, and if Reality Hot Seat proves to be a hit with viewers, the possibilities could be endless. However, Berwick says they will “take it as it comes” and is waiting to see how Sunday goes before planning anything else.
Reality Hot Seat streams on Peacock and NFL+ on Sunday, December 7 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
