“The proposal will be discussed in a virtual meeting with U.S. officials Tuesday, she said”

Why? Is there a wall standing in the way?

    So lemme get this straight….

A treaty from 1944 which requires Mexico to provide America with *water* is the topic.

The United tinder Donald Trump has: (1) record food bank demands, (2) wood bank shortages for heat, and (3) water scarcity reliant on Mexico. Meanwhile, Trump sends $45B to bail out Argintinian farmers from Trump’s tariffs, and $12B to American farmers suffering under Trump’s tariffs. They aren’t releasing job and economic reports which would show inflation and unemployment, they aren’t working with states to protect people, and they’re sending brownshirt goons into the cities to round up political dissidents while putting any political opposition on lists while blowing up fishing boats in Caribbean calling them “weapons or mass destruction”, flying fighter jets over Venezuela, and pardoning Honduran drug lords.

    It’s everything poor conservatives wanted.

  3. I hope Canada pushed back….That’s all I am going to say. Seems only us and China are willing.

Mexico city is having major water scarcity issues, seems wild that they would send water.

    She said “si, ahorita” 👀😅

“Ahorita”: Word in Mexico used to refer an imprecise point in time. It could mean any of the following: right now, today, tomorrow, next week, next year, never. Mostly used for the latter

I mean by my understanding it seems fair enough? 1944 treaty was made and Mexico is having trouble fulfilling its obligations so trump isn’t happy. You can be mad at trump for plenty of things but by my understanding this one isn’t even a trump thing. He didn’t try to alter to treaty from what I’m reading. it’s fair enough that any nation would be unhappy if another nation was failing their end of a treaty.

  7. I don’t see any reason why Mexico needs to be sending that water from the Rio Grande headwaters in Colorado back to the US.

  8. Today I learned that the US and Mexico have a water treaty established under the 1944 Water Treaty. Mexico is obligated to send a certain amount of water to the Rio Grande River while the US is obligated to send water to Mexico via the Colorado River over a 5 year period. Mexico is behind on their water due to the drought they experienced but they have to successfully argue its an extreme drought for non-compliance. For that reason, Mexico has agreed to send water or face tariffs.

Mexico barely has water for itself why does the US want its water? The US has more lakes and rivers than Mexico can dream. Strange request from the US.

The Trump admin refused to send water to Mexico back in April as part of a special request. And while Mexico tends to lag in sending the US water, them being more timely is actually due to Biden’s negotiations. So expect Trump to try and claim credit for that as well.

    >”After 18 months of negotiations, the United States and Mexico reached an agreement in November, days after Trump’s election, to improve deliveries.

    >Hailed then by the Biden administration, the understanding calls for Mexico to work with the United States to deliver water in a more timely way, including earlier in each five-year cycle.”

  11. Time to get moving with making desalination plants cheaper to run. Drought will be a global problem in the near future.

Send us water from Temu. When it arrives as just a picture of water we can all have a good laugh at Trump’s expense.
