I know pollarding makes the trees grow with thicker and more frequent branching, but to this extent? It’s just ludicrous

They did this around my neighbourhood a couple of years ago and they devastated the natural habitat of the owls and other birds.
The reason they do this is purely financial – they are selling the wood for people’s home fires now winter is approaching. It is absolutely diabolical.
Cypriots will do ANYTHING to make a quick buck and to hell with the consequences on other people and the environment.

I understand that there is a logic in doing this but this picture makes me even more sad than watching Titanic movie
This kind of thing drives me nuts. Even on Limassol seafront they mutilate trees instead of pruning them.
