The Azerbaijan Producers Guild (APG) has officially been accepted as a full member of FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations), one of the most prestigious film organizations in the world, APG Chairman Mushfiq Hatamov told APA.
He noted that the membership will officially become active on January 1, 2026.
“Joining FIAPF is a strategic step for the Azerbaijan Producers Guild in terms of the international recognition of Azerbaijani cinema and strengthening its position. Membership in FIAPF opens wide opportunities to align the work of Azerbaijani producers with international standards and integrate them into the global film market. This is of historic significance both for the more reliable protection of producers’ rights and for attracting foreign investments to local film projects, as well as increasing participation in international co-production projects. Azerbaijani cinema is now represented on a platform alongside the world’s leading film countries,” he said.
Mushfiq Hatemov noted that the Azerbaijan Producers Guild plans to use its new status to achieve improvements in international legislation related to copyright, producer rights, and film production; and to strengthen its activities in promoting Azerbaijani cinema more actively to foreign producers, distributors, and investors through the FIAPF network.
It should be noted that the Guild is a public association that unites Azerbaijan’s leading film and television producers.
The main goal of the organization is to protect the rights and defend the interests of its members, support the development of the local audiovisual industry, and promote international cooperation in the audiovisual field. FIAPF was established in 1933. It is currently a non-profit organization representing 38 member organizations from 31 countries. The organization protects the interests of film producers, accredits international film festivals (for example, Cannes, Berlin, Venice, etc.), and sets ethical and professional standards in the film industry.
