Adam Leszkiewicz, CEO of the Polish state-owned defense company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, said that PGZ will expand its exports of portable air defense systems, artillery particularly howitzers), and other technologies that have been proven effective in Ukraine. The company is also considering entering the dual-use goods market. After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, European countries increased their military spending sharply, and Poland has nearly doubled its defense budget since 2022, raising it to almost 5% of GDP. The EU has launched the €150B SAFE defense program to fund joint European projects. Leszkiewicz highlighted that this creates new opportunities for PGZ – from technology exchange to manufacturing equipment in partnership with European industry leaders.
Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa includes 70 companies with 22,000 employees. The group already works with Thales, BAE Systems, Rheinmetall, and Babcock in the fields of munitions, shipbuilding, and armored vehicles. Last year, the company’s revenue increased by 36% to PLN 13.9B ($3.8B), while net profit rose by 92% to PLN 1.7B.
