The national New Year’s Eve celebrations will return to to Valletta, this year, with a spectacular night of live music by leading local and international artists in St George’s Square and a grand fireworks display over the historic Grand Harbour.
The Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici said: “New Year’s Eve in Valletta has become a celebration that brings communities together in the heart of our capital. This event showcases Maltese talent while welcoming international artists who help make the evening even more special. We are proud to support celebrations that create joy, unity and a powerful cultural experience for the public.”
Organised by the Valletta Cultural Agency in collaboration with G7 Events, the Ministry for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, the celebrations will be hosted by Jamie Cardona and Taryn Mamo Cefai.
“We are once again proud to welcome everyone to Valletta for the National New Year’s Eve Celebrations. This is undoubtedly Malta’s biggest end-of-year event,” added Valletta Cultural Agency chair Jason Micallef.
“I encourage everyone to join us in the heart of the capital for this spectacular celebration and to look out over the Grand Harbour at midnight for the most impressive fireworks display we have ever presented, made possible through our collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority. Let’s welcome 2026 together!”
The programme in St George’s Square is being organised with partners at the Valletta Cultural Agency, G7 Events, the Ministry for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism.
The evening kicks off with local favourite Glen Vella and his band, followed by a performance from the Palace String Orchestra, featuring some of Malta’s leading artists, including Aidan Drakard, Denise, Gaia, Karin Duff, Keith Zammit Mintoff and Klinsmann in a series of timeless classics and unique collaborations.
As the countdown approaches, DJs Denzel Jo Armani and Wayne will set the stage with a high-energy mash-up of 2025’s biggest dance anthems, enhanced by stage effects and fireworks broadcast live across local TV.
Celebrations reach their peak at midnight with a special live performance by international star John Newman. Known for his global hit Love Me Again and collaborations with dance producers such as Calvin Harris (Blame), Newman brings his powerful, soulful voice fused with electronic beats to Valletta’s stage.
The night will come to a close with an upbeat set by DJ Gabii.
The Grand Harbour fireworks display is set to be the biggest one so far thanks to a collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority.
The Valletta National New Year’s Eve Celebration is organised by G7 Events and is supported by a Partnership Agreement for Large-Scale Events and Initiatives provided by the Valletta Cultural Agency within the Ministry for Culture, Lands and Local Government. This event is also supported by the Malta Tourism Authority.
