  1. What they *say*: “We don’t want a patchwork of state regulation, but a coherent federal regulation”

What they’re trying to *do*: They *know* there’s no federal regulation and there won’t be any anytime soon. They’re just trying to get rid of *all* regulation.

Add on the usual scare tactics of “any regulation will dEStroY thE EcoNOmy”!!!! also “what about scaaaaaaary China?!”

Interesting to me that a certain political party in the United States that has made “states rights” a huge part of its brand for more than 60 years suddenly does not believe that the states should have any rights on this issue, along with a few others.

  3. Other countries are already moving fast, and if the U.S. steps back, it won’t just be about safety—it’ll be about influence. Whoever sets the standards first shapes how AI is used globally. Skipping regulation now is basically handing that power over to someone else.

  4. The only future these guys want to protect is the one that has their pockets grow more and more.

  5. They know once populous liberal states regulate, companies will have to follow those regulations everywhere for simplicity and access to a huge market. Same with posting California cancer warning labels on everything, even outside the state.

  6. Go read “If anyone builds it, everyone dies” and tell me again about how rushing forward protects our future.

Check out ai and dynamic grocery store pricing. Consumers and everyday citizens will be absolutely devastated by ai

  8. If America doesn’t make the intelligent AI models then China will. Regulation is irrelevant.

  9. I disagree, AI is just software engineering. It is just automation and people are mythologizing it. Overregulating it would choke off innovation. I think it’s unfortunate it had to be Trump to say no to overregulating it and now the democrats are just going to take the opposite stance because everything orange man wants to do is bad so we’ll do the opposite.

Edit: I’m telling you this now. If you run on a ticket of regulating AI I’m not going to vote for you. Don’t fall into that trap, you’re going to lose a lot of voters who actually like AI.

Reddit can mass downvote me but it’s true.

  10. Without AI regulations, AI will regulate itself. And AI may determine that humans are an infestation and using the energy required to keep AI alive. AI needs to eat, too. There are many dystopian novels and cinema about this very subject. You best start believing those stories, your in one.
