  1. I lived in HK in 2016, so between the yellow umbrella movement and the later protests. I loved my time there, but it did feel like a dying city, as China exerted more and more control over it.

    I want to go back one day, but at the same time I’m scared as to what kind of city I will find.

    The best option for Hong Kongers now is to take up the offer of a British Overseas National Passport and get the fuck out. Britain may have it’s problems, but Hong Kongers fit in well here, and I’d encourage as many as possible to come over.

    what happened to HK is such a fucking tragedy. yet barely anyone even remembers it now. and suddenly “progressives” are all over china, because communism or something, and “west bad”.

    man, how I miss the time without tankie trash everywhere. when it was cruel authoritarian right wing filth vs liberals for human rights, freedom, environment. now the “left” is full of tankies adoring china, middle eastern pits that execute LGBT people, even NK and ruzzia ffs, and want all that to rise up, destroy the “evil West”, and take its place. what a world it would be…
