It’s the end of the year, new timetable. The new railway carrier is to significantly increase its transport capacity, which is associated with great excitement among passengers. Unfortunately, the first day turns out to be a tragedy. There are no trains, connections are canceled at the last minute. Some trains are directed to the wrong routes, and some do not even leave the depot because of a dispatcher who did not bother to show up at work.

What I described above is not December 14 this year, but several years earlier, when Koleje ÅšlÄ…skie took over all internal connections of the Silesian Voivodeship. To say that it was a disaster would be an understatement, and what PLK did was almost sabotage to punish Silesia for resigning from PKP Przewozy Regionalne (then it was part of PKP).

Few probably remember this, after all, KÅš is now one of the best performing regional carriers, but the first years were very difficult. Rolling stock problems still exist today, although they are not as serious as at the beginning.

And why am I mentioning this? Firstly, I assume that most people here do not know this story (after all, it does not concern Warsaw), and secondly, there is some analogy between the second entry of KÅš and RJ. After all, KÅš also served some lines before. In both cases there were some strange numbers from PLK. Although in the case of KÅš there was no such outcry on the Internet or mutual admiration circle, the first day was not so successful.

Because yes, RJ’s entrance was so se. But this means that this is the end for this carrier, or that it ruins its future. It just didn’t work out, sorry. However, I think that IC could use some competition, because although they are not the worst (ahem DB), they are far from the best (ÖBB or SBB). RJ will enable IC to focus on higher quality services (because they will not compete on price), which will be good for us. And this is only the beginning, because after RJ there will be other operators. And it’s very good, I’m personally waiting for ÖBB to enter our tracks and we will be able to travel to Italy by NightJet without changing trains in Vienna

Additionally, there is material on YouTube about how a private carrier launched in Italy. Tldr: private began to transport about 120% of what the state-owned one previously did, state-owned transport increased by 50%, and airlines stopped operating on these routes. In short, only profits

  2. I jakie “dziwne numery” wobec RJ ci chodzi?
