(KIMT NEWS 3)–Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative, MiEnergy Cooperative, and People’s Energy Cooperative will initiate a peak energy alert starting Monday at 7 a.m. due to anticipated high demand on the regional grid.

Members enrolled in the Dual Fuel Energy Management Program will be impacted from 7 to 11 a.m. during the alert. Residents can help conserve electricity by setting heating systems to at least 68 degrees, closing window coverings, running dishwashers or laundry later, using microwaves instead of ovens, and postponing electric vehicle charging.

These cooperatives, part of Dairyland Power Cooperative, have been serving Southeastern Minnesota and North Iowa for over 85 years. Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative serves more than 18,000 members, MiEnergy Cooperative serves about 19,000 members, and People’s Energy Cooperative serves nearly 20,000 members across various counties in Minnesota and Iowa.
