Warsaw plans to transfer to Kyiv 6-8 MiG-29 aircraft, which are to be withdrawn from service in the Polish Armed Forces by the end of this year.

This position was voiced by the Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland, Cezary Tomczyk, who recently stated the possibility of transferring this equipment to Ukraine.

According to the official, it concerns exactly “6-8 aircraft,” which will be withdrawn from service at the end of December and will not be used by the Polish Armed Forces.

Plans for transferring MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine

“They could either end up in a museum, or be sold for scrap, or end up in Ukraine and help kill our enemies… In my view, it is quite clear what should happen to them. Especially given that we are also negotiating with Ukraine on technology transfers.”

According to the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, Warsaw plans to transfer to Ukraine the remainder of its MiG-29 aircraft that are being withdrawn from service, expecting to receive in return technologies related to the production of UAVs and missiles.

The Polish expert, former Minister of National Defense Janusz Onyszkiewicz noted that the transfer could take place in January-February next year.

The President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, stated that he was not informed about the Ministry of National Defense’s plans to transfer Polish MiG-29s to Ukraine.
