Air France took delivery of its 50th Airbus A220 and 40th Airbus A350, expanding its fleet at its Paris base as part of a long-term modernization plan, announced the airline on Monday.

The handover continues Air France’s program to update its fleet, with the carrier investing over €1 billion annually and receiving nearly two new aircraft each month.

The latest A220, named ‘Valbonne’, was delivered on November 7 and began commercial service on November 17 with a flight to London-Heathrow.

The new A350, designated ‘Noirmoutier-en-L’Île’, was delivered on November 20 and is scheduled to enter long-haul service shortly. This aircraft is the fifth A350 delivered to the airline this year, bringing the total of A350s in service with Air France to 40.

Air France aims to have 80% of its fleet comprised of new-generation aircraft by 2030. Currently, 34% of its fleet meets this standard.

Air France received its first A350-900 in September 2019. The aircraft is configured with three service classes: 34 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 266 economy seats, totaling 324 seats.

The first A220 was delivered to the French airline two years later, in September 2021. This aircraft has 148 seats in a single class configuration.
