I’d make a captain obvious joke, but then I look at the polls and realize it is absolutely necessary to repeat this important point over and over again!

  2. This shouldn’t be a surprise. “Subjugate” is the key word. Every action—from bombing civilian infrastructure to deporting children—shows this is an existential war for Ukraine’s sovereignty. Talks are just a tactic for Putin to rearm and pressure the West to cut aid.

Amazing to think that our intelligence services are able to discover such well-hidden secrets. I wonder if they can solve the conundrum of “is what wet?”

He wants Ukraine and the rest of the former russian sphere of influence.

Unfortunately for him the current version of the russian empire is ~5% of primary global energy consumption vs ~16% during the USSR peak, and the golden age of russian oil is in the past.

Delusions of an old fool, indulged by the even bigger fools that claim to be “citizens” of Russia.

Yes, Britain’s MI6 spy chief’s message is obvious and goes without saying, but political leaders in the West could join him and speak the truth out loud!

Has he also come up with the intelligence indicating Nazi Germany intends to invade Poland?

Um. We kind of all knew this stuff a long time ago.

I wonder what clued them in? The large number of long, drawn out peace talks or the attempts to subjugate Ukraine.

Only constituency outside of Russia who seems unable (more likely unwilling) to acknowledge Putin’s play is the US. History will not be kind. No matter how this plays out. This is a level of infamy that you can’t whitewash.

  10. Everyone talks like Putin isn’t the worst of Russia. He may not be, but getting rid of him will bring a possibility of change. As such, I support Ukraine in every way.

  11. This might not be an immediately popular opinion but… isn’t this sort of good? Putin (and Trump) are running out of time since they’re old men. The war isn’t escalating where the existence of Ukraine is immediately threatened like it was when Putin’s forces were right outside of Kyiv. Battlelines are drawn and are slightly fluctuating. At some point in time, the US will elect an adult for President and Putin is going to kick the can. Then actual negotiations will begin.

I think the more there’s swift action, the more it’ll be very likely to be against Ukraine. The more time Ukraine has, the better.
