Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou outlined Greece’s vision and challenges regarding the acceleration of digital transformation and the effective use of artificial intelligence at the Digital Economy Forum 2025: “From Vision to Impact,” organized by the Federation of Hellenic ICT Enterprises (SEPE) in Athens.

Papastergiou referred to important developments, such as the fourth session in Parliament on Pharos, the artificial intelligence factory, and the upcoming ratification of the relevant bill. The minister stressed the progress made in the absorption of European funds, with approximately 50% of the money already disbursed.

However, he highlighted the need to intensify efforts. “We must do the work,” he stressed, asking all companies in the sector to work collectively toward delivering projects compatible with the fund’s objectives and the expectations of society.

In the health sector, Papastergiou highlighted the new electronic health record, to which the possibility of using a digital assistant to access medical records (prescriptions, vaccinations etc) was recently added. He also referred to the new prescription system that was put into operation in early 2025, replacing an old and outdated system.
