  1. Useless ticket in the vast majority of metropolitan areas until it’s coordinated with the autonomous communities, and if AVANT isn’t included, they’ll continue making an absurd distinction (AVANT is also a medium-distance service, whether it runs on high-speed rail or not).

To explain why it’s useless, let me give you a practical example. Every day in Madrid, I have to take a train to a station where I transfer to the Metro, which I then use to another station where I transfer to another Metro line. What good is this pass if it only covers one leg of my journey? But what I’ve said about Madrid also applies to Barcelona, for example: if I’m going from Canet de Mar to Peu del Funicular, I can take the R1 to Plaça Catalunya, but not the FGC train to Peu. It’s useless in those circumstances. The same could be said for buses and many other provinces.

Furthermore, I’m afraid it will be a victim of its own success on medium-distance trains. Seat reservations must be eliminated immediately, and if there are no free seats, passengers should be allowed to travel standing up (unless more trains are added, which is what’s really needed, but rolling stock doesn’t grow on trees). Otherwise, the same thing will happen as when it was “free.” This, which may seem crazy to some, is what’s done in almost all of Europe; the obsession with reserving seats is a Spanish phenomenon.

It’s incomprehensible that this wasn’t coordinated with the autonomous communities from the beginning, as they should be directly or indirectly obligated to accept it.

Otra forma de hacer que la gente gaste dinero. Si viajas, gastarás.

Another way to get people to spend money you will spend if you travel.

  3. That worked great in Germany. So the quality of Spanish PT will go to hell.

These populist things always “worked” out great.
