Havre, MT – After losing the season opener, Havre High boys basketball dropped their next pair of games to Lockwood (66-47) and Laurel (72-59). Head coach of the Blue Ponies WaLynn Burgess said he loved how his team fought hard in both games.
“Main thing is we’ve been talking about just going out and competing every day like making sure how we’re doing the little things. are we rebounding are getting back are we doing the little things?I thought Friday against a really good Lockwood team, for the most part those guys really competed, and I really liked the effort.
Now the Blue Ponies are set to battle Malta on the road in a quick turnaround game Tuesday night. Coach Burgess knows that his team needs to keep their intensity high to claim the season’s first victory.
“you know I like the fact that we’re getting back on the floor after a Saturday loss. They’re not going to take it likely they want to come beat us and we want to go beat them. It’s going to be really good to test these guys these guys to see what their fortitude is if they’re going to fight some of the stuff that happens in the early season or if they’re just not going to do it.”
Havre high Girl’s tipoff in Malta at 6p.m. and the boys play at 7pm. Havre basketball will then head to dillion on Friday and Saturday December 19th and 20th for East West tipoff.
