I mean the voting public decided to punish the only party serious about public transport reform. What else would happen.

This line is an easy win and would serve a ton of people. The fact that they went with the WRC instead is clearly political bias

Ridiculous. The line is maintained at cost with a massive rail bridge and one of the few rails links that is not dependent on running through Dublin. M50 linking up all the motorways level of terrible infrastructure planning except now towards a strategic post Brexit port in Rosslare

Noooooo. I was delighted it was officially on the we are so so doing it list of 2025 after all the back & forth wishy washiness. I was looking forward to random day trips down!

South east neglect is a mind set in the rooms where decisions are made about Ireland’s future.

No idea why people are angry. It won’t be used for freight. The line already goes to Belview Port, so thats covered.
The connection for rail passengers is for who exactly? Its connects to Rosslare with a population of approx 2k people. If it connected was in the direction of Wexford town, it might make more sense, but it doesn’t and how many people in Wexford town would commute to Waterford city on a train. I’m guessing f all in reality.
I would love if this useless goverment invested more in rail, but this is a total waste of money.

Sadly this is on par for this government’s commitment to public transport – the line is sitting there maintained by Irish Rail – very easy to get it back up and running.

Delighted if they manage to turn it into the Greenway we were promised 15 years ago.
The line was shuttered years ago due to little to no demand. And I did take it a few times decades ago and it was empty carriages.

Verona really could have used her massive surplus of votes and background in transport to address this issue. At least she is learning Irish to moderate debates better.
