Dubai-based airline flydubai operated its first direct flight to the Latvian capital Riga overnight from Friday to Saturday, launching a three-flight weekly service between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Riga International Airport (RIX).

The inaugural flight was welcomed by officials from the airport and the UAE Embassy in Latvia.

The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Latvia, H.E. Noora Juma, said: “This day marks a new chapter in the friendship between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Latvia. The direct flights between Dubai and Riga by the UAE airline flydubai will not only improve connectivity between our countries, but will also open up new opportunities for tourism, business and cultural exchange.”
