Serbia will not have representatives at the European Union – Western Balkans Summit in Brussels today, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced today.
The latter said that “neither he nor anyone else” will go to Brussels, emphasizing that he has spoken with many European leaders and that he is grateful for the respect that Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission) and Antonio Costa (President of the Council of Europe) have shown towards Serbia, reports. nova.rs.
“For the first time in the last 13 or 14 years, neither I nor anyone else will go to that intergovernmental conference. No one will represent the Republic of Serbia, so the Western Balkans will be without the Republic of Serbia,” the president told RTS.
According to him, he is making this decision for the sake of the citizens of Serbia, despite knowing that it will face criticism in Brussels. He stressed that he has made the decision personally and that the Serbian government should not face any kind of pressure on this issue.
“I think that in this way I am protecting Serbia and its interests. Serbia is on its side, no matter how much Washington, Brussels or Moscow may not like it,” Vucic said, adding that they will remain on the European path as long as he is president, and after that, he added, “we will see.”
Asked about foreign exchange reserves, Vučić stressed that Serbia has no problems with the exchange rate, as it has 36 billion euros in foreign exchange reserves and that it can “defend the exchange rate for years.”
He called on citizens not to worry, emphasizing that there is no problem in this regard. /Telegraph/
