Positive indications are coming from North Macedonia’s public broadcaster, MRT, regarding the country’s potential return to the Eurovision Song Contest. During the latest meeting of MRT’s Program Council on December 11, members expressed clear support for participating in the 2027 contest.
During the session, Program Council President Davor Pasoski briefed members on his attendance at the 95th General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Geneva. He noted that discussions with EBU representatives highlighted their enthusiasm at the prospect of North Macedonia returning to the Eurovision stage in 2027, as well as their readiness to provide technical and organizational support to facilitate the participation.
The council also emphasized the importance of MRT beginning preparations early and in an organized manner to ensure the country is presented in the best possible way at one of Europe’s most significant musical events.
At the same time, MRT is also in discussions with the EBU about a separate ambitious project: hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. If approved, this would mark the first time North Macedonia would host a Eurovision competition.
Such an event would not only provide a major opportunity to showcase the country internationally but also serve as a platform to support and promote emerging musical talent.
