The outgoing Prime Minister, Rosen Zhelyazkov, was in Brussels, where he participated in the annual EU-Western Balkans meeting.
“Our position has always been principled – we have no unresolved issues with the Republic of North Macedonia, we do not develop any disputes with the RMV on issues related to the so-called July 2022 compromise, as this is already a common European position,” stated Rosen Zheljazkov.
He emphasized that Bulgaria’s position as a member state is that each candidate country for membership in the European Union, on the basis of its own merits, be assessed for its progress and not by a particular member state.
“The assessment of progress on the opening of Cluster 1, which is related to the negotiating framework, shows some hesitation on the part of colleagues in Skopje, but this is not an issue on which we give our opinion or position,” the Bulgarian prime minister said in his resignation.
