As part of the economic diplomacy activities promoted by Maeci, the first edition of the guide entitled “Growth Diplomacy: Destination Bosnia-Herzegovina” has been published by the Embassy of Italy in Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Association of Italian Companies in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH). The tool, presented today during the National Conference on Export and Business Internationalization in Milan, aims to strengthen the Italian economic presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina by facilitating the access of Italian companies and investors to the local market and promoting new strategic partnerships.
Economic-commercial relations between Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina are solid and constantly developing: the Italian presence in the country is well visible, for example, in the mechanical, textile and agri-food sectors. Italy is also BiH’s second largest trading partner and first supplier, with an interchange that in 2024, exceeded USD 1.7 billion. Italian exports, concentrated mainly in the sectors of electrical equipment, chemicals, building and furniture materials, technical textiles and energy derivatives, have been on a steady growth trajectory for years (average annual growth of more than 6 percent over the last five years).
The guide offers an overview of opportunities for Italian companies and investors, including insights into tax regulations, the local trade fair system, as well as the steps needed to establish a business in the country. Specific analyses are also offered on strategic sectors such as renewable energy and infrastructure, as well as the consumer goods sector, particularly food products and wood/furniture.
“The local market offers significant business and investment opportunities for our economic and production system. The guide, in this sense, aims to provide a comprehensive, yet practical and easy-to-read overview that can guide our companies in entering BiH,” said the Ambassador of Italy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarah Eti Castellani.
