Just tried to open tiktok and Im met with this prompt, normally i just click though these sort of messages but this one stopped me. After a brief Google search it seems like quite a large breach of typical GDPR as its essentially allowing a tiktok worker in China to gain access to my phone to get my personal data. And it seems as though the irish government has just allowed it to happen? Its putting me off using tiktok if Im honest.

All these apps are harvesting and using your data. If it’s free you’re just paying in a different way.

Glad I uninstalled this from my phone last month so. Still have my account, but only now occasionally access it on a browser. Wonder if this applies there too…

If youve uploaded any video that includes your face to tiktok odds are youre on a Chinese database forever. They have some really scary cctv facial recognition tech too.

Some people have been screaming this on the rooftops for years at this stage. They probably feel like crying every time they see a thread like this.
Get off TikTok. I say this as a man who uses Reddit, YouTube, WhatsApp and Twitter, but get off TikTok 😅
