UEFA and CONMEBOL officially confirmed on Thursday the venue and date for the 2026 Finalissima, the clash that will pit Spain and Argentina against each other as the reigning European and South American champions, respectively.Â
As previously reported by Mundo Deportivo, the match will be played on 27 March 2026 at 1:00 p.m. ET (7:00 p.m. CET) at Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
It will be a historic occasion for the Spanish national team, who will compete for this title for the first time—a trophy that brings together the champions of European and South American football.Â
To date, the competition has been held on three occasions. The first two editions took place in 1985 and 1993 under the name Artemio Franchi Cup, with victories for France and Argentina, respectively.
The tournament was revived in 2022 with a showdown between Argentina and Italy at Wembley, which ended in a commanding win for the Albiceleste.Â
As a result, the South American side currently holds two of the three titles contested so far.
Spain will head into the final against Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina, the reigning world champions, after winning the 2022 edition, during a period of peak international prestige.
In addition to being the current European champions, Spain also sit top of the FIFA rankings, notably just ahead of Argentina.
The most recent meeting between the two sides dates back to March 2018, when they faced each other in a friendly in Madrid that ended in a resounding 6–1 victory for Spain.Â
Eight years later, Spain and Argentina will meet again—this time with an official title on the line and on one of the most iconic stages in world football.
