The Lithuanian people are from stupid, and they will not allow their politicians to spark a military conflict with Belarus — as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, while responding to a question from Aleksandr Shpakovsky, a BPC participant and a member of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly, during the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on December 18th

Responding to the question concerning his stance on Lithuania, the country that continues to pursue confrontational policy against Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated his point of view, “War is a particular period in the life of any society. And you can’t predict with 100% certainty how this situation will unfold. Therefore, under no circumstances we can allow any [military] confrontation!”

What’s more, no war begins with shooting. Aleksandr Lukashenko cited the Ukraine conflict as an example, which began with seemingly harmless small things, adding, “I strive to avoid taking any steps that could lead to escalation. I try to avoid any escalation: in politics, in diplomacy, in the economy. If the enemy hasn’t crossed the line, you must know how to negotiate. But there’s nowhere else to yield. They have to understand that no Germans or British will fight for them. The Lithuanian people, however, are far from stupid, and they will not allow their politicians to spark a conflict.”

“We will seek a politically and diplomatically appropriate solution,” Aleksandr Shpakovsky concluded.

“Yes, and we’ll find it,” the President of Belarus confirmed.
