Can we just take a moment to appreciate how difficult it is to coordinate this kind of massive funding across the entire EU?

To many more billions. Russia is our eternal enemy and every cent spent today might save a European life tomorrow.

European neoliberals continue to exchange the material conditions of their working class for the ruling class’ ideology.
At least they didn’t destroy their credibility by seizing Russia’s assets. But this will still be a disaster long-term
As the far-right continues to win elections in Europe moving forward, you can pinpoint this as one of the major contributing factors for that. Keep that in mind when it inevitably happens

Why aren’t we using the Russian assets? What are we saving them for?

They’re doing everything they can to delay the inevitable. The problem is, Putin isn’t stopping.
He will throw every last man, woman and child he can at Ukrain and Europe, taking anything and everything he is able before he will voluntarily surrender or retreat.
He already took the US.

Use the Russian assets in tranches…
Put pressure on Russia to ceasefire and withdraw back past a DMZ… i.e. agree to a balanced “peace plan”.
Any further aggression is met with a further draw down on their assets…
Use it as ongoing leverage.
Use the generated interest for reparations. Allow . Ukraine to rebuild and heal.

I see this as great news. Ukraine gets £90 billion to keep defending. Europe shows unity, and there’s still a couple of hundred billion left for the future what ifs.

Russia is on its last legs. Six months tops. ( I know it’s been said before) keep up the pressure Putin
Is done soon. The next couple of months are key.
Forget these ridiculous “estate deals “ to end the war. Keep going there is light at the end!

I’m fine with the loan, but the part where the EU is literally falling on their sword to protect the private property rights of the enemy on their doorstep is hilarious to me.
Ideology apparently trumps pragmatism.

Russia nationalized most of the western companies operating in Russia. And yet we’re so pissy afraid of them that we can’t take the money they stored here. They are our enemy for God’s sake. If they could they’d subjugate everybody from Ukraine to Portugal.
Some have been concerned that Russia could win at an international court. But Russia is not exactly a stellar example of rules preventing countries doing things if they want to. So, even if a court would come to that conclusion we could literally just ignore it and nobody could enforce it.

It can’t be understate how truly pathetic the EU is. The cowardice on display is reprehensible.

While Russia fucks the world up the ass we’re still hesitant about using their assets. Instead it’s our tax dollars. 100% for standing by Ukraine, but do understand it’s not only the great achievement of the EU. It’s all of us since we are the EU

Who is funding it? When will we get the money back? What guarantees are in place? And what is the interest rate?

So they decided to use funds that europeans paid to EU to fund our nations, to be given to an extra-EU nation. More than what italy spend every year in education.
All this to be given to USA for their military equipment and to go to corrupt olygarchs and in golden wc.
And then we are surprises of why many people are stopping to care about EU and becoming nationalists.

This is good and a relief, but god damn, stop holding back and just use the aggressor’s money already. Ruzzia could literally end their bullshit TODAY. If they don’t, they need to feel every bit of the consequences.
