I have not lived in Germany too long and have never in my life dealt with mold like this. My husband owns the apartment and we discovered mold behind our wardrobe. Normally for mold I use a commercial spray from Rossmann. Is that still an option for a spot this size? We are already addressing the problem which was water leaking behind some tiles that we didn’t know about. We are also going to have professionals come and dry the walls out. But just wondering how to handle the mold.

Take a shot everytime someone’s posting their mold pics on here.
Do you even lüft?
That looks like water in the wall. You should check if there is a water filtration or something
I’m not German, but I’ve lived in many houses with humidity problems.
My mould situation improved significantly after never buying Ikea flat pack stuff again. That slim piece of compressed board that you slip into the grooves on the back of wardrobes, sideboards etc is like a sponge for ambient moisture. If your ventilation is poor or your insulation in the wall is bad, forget about it, there will 100% be mould behind the Ikea furniture.
You should get rid of the cabinet, I recommend to vacuum the moldy spots with a special vacuum cleaner with a so called ‘hepa filter’. After that you use a sponge with and some sort of mold remover. I use Fakolith FK 12. It’s quite pricy but it is really good. After that you should remove the wallpaper. If there ist mold in the plaster i recommend to wash of any affected areas with mold remover. Slightly dark spots are okay. The mold discolors the white wall but the spores should be killed. No worrys about it to come back. Stay safe and watch your health. Best of luck
Thats a very wet wall my friend. Its almost as if something is leaking or can be a case of an extreme form of condensation.
The wall is hopefully an external wall. Pull all furniture in front of external walls a couple of centimeters away from the walls to enable air circulation behind the furniture.
Try a mold removal spray (ventilate very well) and look if the mold then disappears. If not: the of the wallpaper and replace it (wear a mask while doing it).
Mold like this is allready multiple centimeters deep into the wall, nothing any spray could fix
There shouldn’t be a Schrank on the outside wall. German buildings suck, unless you open the windows several times a day for 10-15 minutes. Even then it is risky to have a Schrank on the outside wall.
