The Bahamas has officially recognized the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state, becoming the 121st country to recognize Kosovo’s independence. The decision was described as historic and another diplomatic success for Kosovo, according to KosovaPress.
The news was announced by Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, who called it a historic decision for the country.
“Another historic decision for our country.
The Bahamas becomes the 121st state to recognize Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state. Congratulations to all citizens of our Republic!
We have just signed here in the capital of the Bahamas the bilateral agreement on recognition and the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, our good friend Philip Davis,” Osmani wrote.

Joint Statement of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Republic of Kosovo on Recognition and the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations
The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Republic of Kosovo announce that the Commonwealth of The Bahamas has recognized the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
Both states also announce the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Republic of Kosovo, effective from the date of the signing of the Joint Agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations, in accordance with international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
Both states reaffirm their commitment to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, including respect for sovereignty, equality of states, and the peaceful settlement of disputes. They agree to develop their relationship on the basis of mutual respect, reciprocity, and constructive engagement.
The Bahamas and Kosovo express their intention to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including political consultations, trade and investment, tourism, education and culture, technology and innovation, cooperation in the public sector, as well as people-to-people exchanges, in accordance with the laws and procedures of each respective state.
The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Republic of Kosovo welcome the building of a warm and productive partnership that serves the interests of both peoples and contributes to international peace and cooperation.
