  1. At some point Maduro is going to protect these ships and kill a couple of Americans and then we’re going to declare war. Because that’s what it’s really about. Trump’s entire goal.

The US really has become a terrorist state.

This, my friends, is an excellent exemple of how uncontrolled capitalism only brings doom.

  3. I assume that Venezuela aren’t escorting every oil tanker like Maduro said? I’m a little confused.

People are so against Trump that they now support Maduro’s Venezuela and its smuggling of Russian oil. Strange times.

  5. Trumps a loser looking for war, but let’s not act like Maduro is the good guy here either. He likely lost the election and is still in power.

  6. The ship was not on the US Treasury’s list of sanctioned vessels.

So we’re just terrorizing some random sailors.

  7. It might be another shadow fleet tanker, since the article says it loaded up in Venezuela under a false name.

The overall situation with Venezuela is questionable, but allowing these tankers to keep moving oil illegally is also dumb. Countries should have been trying to stop it long ago.

  8. >”He also referred to the 1982 Falklands War between Britain and Argentina,”

Not a very good example, if he was trying to make a point. We all know how that war ended.

Remember when DHS had the alert system, like from BLUE 0 -> RED 5, if an attack was imminent? Its nuts that DHS is somehow “heading up” this operation – even if its doing so nominally. Are we supposed to believe that Venezuela is actively making life less safe in the US? I guarantee you if you ask 10 people “Are you afraid of Maduro hurting you or a loved one – on scale from 0-10? Ok, and are you worried ICE might hurt you or a loved one – on a scale from 0-10? What about just a random american hurting you ?” Just about every person is going to score the last 2 way higher than Maduro

  10. If anyone is wondering what Brazil said but didn’t want to open the link:

    >President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of neighbouring Brazil has since cautioned the US against an “armed intervention” in Venezuela.

    >During a summit of the South American Mercosur bloc, he said: “Armed intervention in Venezuela would be a humanitarian catastrophe.”

    >He also referred to the 1982 Falklands War between Britain and Argentina, and said “the South American continent is once again haunted by ‌the military presence of an extra-regional power”.

    >If the US did intervene, he said, it would set a “dangerous precedent for the world”.

  11. For as much as people joke about Brazil and how poor the country is…

You don’t want to fuck with Brazil. They may not have the most up to date technology, but they are a powerhouse in that region.
