The Food and Veterinary Agency announced that due to the change in organoleptic properties and the detected presence of larvae and insects, the Food Inspector this week banned the import of 22,3 tons of kiwi intended for industrial processing and issued a decision for their harmless disposal.

As announced by the FVA, it concerns 22.340 kilograms of kiwi, imported from the Republic of Serbia, which, after organoleptic control by the food inspector, were found to be unsafe for import and further processing.

“The importer has been issued a decision ordering the harmless disposal of the disputed quantity of kiwi, after being notified by him that the shipment cannot be returned to the exporting country,” the Food and Veterinary Agency said in a statement.
