The first time I saw that the Government is actively promoting real estate sales abroad, I did not like it.
But seeing the Prime Minister now using this narrative to try to calm concerns, is really worrying.
Anything I’m not seeing, which therefore makes me so apprehensive to the idea?
PS. If I were to read between the lines, I’d understand that Maltese are no longer buying property in Malta, and in order to sustain the existing momentum, new buyers are needed.

You’re spot on. The construction industry is unsustainable and running on promise of sales. Low quality housing, Low wages, unsafe practices, and zero accountability. The construction industry is a get rich quick scheme for the few, promoted by the government.
Don’t forget that the Chinese are buying and renting places for the whole golden passport scheme. There are quite a few places in Malta, that are empty, but being rented out by Chinese nationals, in order to get a Maltese passport
i suspect there is a reason why gov will take unregisteted fields. xi 20% tar raba fmalta qrajt. china is famous for buying huuuge agric land abroad for political reasons. some countries raised red flags about this (usa)
