The Program Council of the Macedonian broadcaster MRT is supporting the participation of the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.
In the notes of the last session of the Program Council of MRT, held on December 11, the Program Council seems to be supporting a return of the broadcaster to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. The meeting notes published by MRT state:
“The President of the PC of MRT Davor Pasoski continued with information about the participation at the 95th General Assembly of the EBU in Geneva and said that in the talks with the EBU representatives it was emphasized that they are particularly pleased to expect Macedonia to be part of the Eurovision stage again in 2027, and the readiness to provide appropriate technical and organizational support for the realization of that participation.
In that sense, he stressed that it is important to approach the preparations for next year in a timely and systematic manner in order for our country to successfully present itself at this important musical event.”
On an additional note, MRT is working closely with the EBU to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2027. Should MRT be selected as the host, this would be the first time that North Macedonia has hosted a Eurovision competition. The Program Council notes:
“Additionally, MRT is currently negotiating with the EBU regarding the possibility of organizing the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2027, which would be a great opportunity to promote the country and encourage young musical talents.”
The last time North Macedonia entered the contest was in 2022. Andrea represented the country in Turin with the song “Circles”. She was unable to qualify for that year’s Grand Final, though, finishing 11th in her semi-final with 76 points.
Despite not taking part to the Eurovision Song Contest, North Macedonia kept participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest from 2022 up to this year. They were last represented by Nela Mančeska with the song “Miracle”, placing 7th with 141 points on the night of the Final.

North Macedonia (previously competing as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998. They attempted to participate two years earlier but were knocked out in the pre-qualifying round. North Macedonia’s best result in the contest is a 7th place finish in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, when Tamara Todevska represented the country with the song “Proud”. North Macedonia has not participated in Eurovision since 2022.
