One in three people in the UK are planning on spending more this Christmas compared to last year, but are only doing so because prices have risen not because they are necessarily buying more presents, according to a Deloitte report.

There is no such comparable data for Luxembourg, but annual inflation in November rose to 3%. Food prices were up 2.6% compared to last year.

The UK is estimated to be a top Christmas spender this year, followed by Germany and France, according to Statista. Again, Luxembourg is not part of the countries assessed.

People in Luxembourg expect to spend several hundred euros on their Christmas shopping this year – at least the ones we spoke to in the capital.
