For so long I’ve wanted them to pivot into more open consoles that double as PCs, it seemed like such an obvious move as they were hemorrhaging market share to Sony. Now with how hard they’ve doubled down on forced AI OS integration and valve’s gabecube as a competitor I’m not so optimistic for them.

  2. I’m disappointed.

With a different CEO we would have an amazing Windows ecosystem with phones, tablets, laptops, watches, game consoles earbuds, smartphone etc. All giving much needed competition to Samsung and Apple.

Instead we have a terrible ecosystem with everything consumer being killed and what’s left is riddled with Artificial Stupidness (there’s nothing intelligent about CoPilot).

They’ve shot themselves in the foot from the 30% profit margin requirement to the mandatory compatibility with the low powered series S to ignoring the performance complaints of windows gamers.

Saw an ad recently where they redefined “xbox” to be any screen where a game is played.

Like, sure guys. Rewrite definitions to make your massive failure a win. No one will notice

I’m still mad they folded on the phone OS so quickly. They spent years losing money on XBox, finally got competitive, and now pivoting away from hardware. Microsoft needs new leadership.

Xbox One launch ended them and they never truly recovered.

It was like a fatal wound. Sooner or later they were always going to bleed out.

  7. AI Slop games via cloud streaming only is where they are headed. You own nothing and enjoy the slop peasants

  8. Bold strategy of doing nothing. Cool! I’m sure that will go well. How about make Windows or Teams suck less?

Their pivot into their crappy AI, no one wants Copilot but they just keep trying to force it and it’s not gonna work out

  10. They’re losing the console race because they’ve stopped asking developers to release games on their console.

    >be steam

    >do nothing

    >always win

  11. Which Xbox is the one you want? How the hell did they pay millions to screw up/make the name indecipherable.

  12. >”Microsoft is pushing toward Bill Gates’ original vision of an all-encompassing entertainment hub in the living room.”

And how are you planning on achieving that when nobody is buying your product?

  13. Hey MS, streaming games ain’t the future. Nobody wants to play call of duty with increased lag.

  14. I’ve been an XBox devotee since The Duke controller…. I guess I’m switching to PS6 next gen.

  15. Microsoft added more ads to the console interface than the very content I bought the console for.

I want to see MY games on the home screen, not everyone else’s crap. That’s what the bloody store is for.

The user experience is downright idiotic.
I can’t stand to boot the thing anymore.

No Microsoft, I won’t buy another one, get fucked.

  16. It’s happening for years. They increase the price of the console because they want you to use their cloud gaming service instead for which the can charge you $20 a month. Then when you’re locked in $30. Then $50 with no ads. Selling the console plus even digital copies of the game won’t cut it anymore as it does not guarantee steady income stream. Charging rent does that.

  17. Title using miles because light-years aren’t imperial? Because that is probably more accurate 🫠

    Edit: posted too soon

I am truly sad that Xbox has fallen so far behind. Somewhere in a parallel universe Halo and Fable have been thriving for over the course of last and current gen, two of my favorite first party series across the big 3.

  18. They aren’t trying they are ceding the race in favor of AI elsewhere, but they’ll loose that too. What a bunch of idiots, they bought all the companies that could have given them a leg up, they had a powerful system, gamepass was positioned to do well if priced right, if they supported the PC market even better! Just a bunch of rudderless floundering….

  19. Microsoft could have the best ecosystem on the planet between phones, PC and console and it’s honestly embarrassing how badly they dropped the ball on the whole thing.

Seems like they never recovered from that disastrous E3 and their “just deal with it” attitude.

  21. I like the series X, so much so that I got my son a 2 TB series X and my other son a regular series X, so we can all play together!
