Are these a direct replacement or are they buying additional carriages as well? Surely need to add a load of new ones

76/80 carriages still running, to the lay man, seems a very high ratio. That shows extremely high quality original build and maintenance over the years.
With the 4 lost to a fire and not accidents or parts cannibalisation.
