This is the Luqa UPS facility today. My parcel was sitting there since Wednesday 6am, and it would still be there if I didn’t pick it up personally. When I asked why it’s not on the truck they say “we wait to deliver bigger boxes to get smaller ones in the vans”. I had my shipment after 7 days instead of the promised 2.
The place is a mess, everyone can just walk in there, lots of people coming and going, they wouldn’t see if you take any other parcel. And Maltapoat seems to be using the same area, so grab one there, too. If you have an 1Z shipment number, they don’t check your ID when claiming a parcel.
I hope your Santa Amazon delivery isn’t in there.

Holy moly what a mess. I’m no warehousing expert but this doesn’t seem to be organised at all.
People being able just to walk in (and record also) seems like it would be a massive security issue.
Normal, it was like that when I went a couple of years ago, not at Christmas!
Dejjem hekk nafu hemm. Jagħtik l-impressjoni li mhux suppost tidħol allavolja huma stess jghidulek biex tmur hemm. Diżastru.
Normal, benefit if you need to get a parcel quick. Let’s not get this on the news and a whole panic and have this possibility locked down. Best to delete this post.
Welcome to Malta 🙂 still waiting for UPS it’s been 10 days
Been there before. An absolute shipwreck of a setup
Fuck. My package arrived today, and they deliver tomorrow. XD
Amazon (and others) doesn’t work efficiently in Malta due to the lack of proper last mile delivery service. This is why most local retailers just do deliveries themselves.
Malta needs a proper instabee or use Wolt
jesus look at the way they stack those boxes….”waslet hekk il-kaxxa minn barra”my ass
I know that facility. It’s a Uganda warehouse relocated in Malta. What a bloody shame for UPS!
They should just reach out to the parent company of UPS and ask for a professional team to be flown in and show them the ropes on how to setup a proper receiving facility and distribution facility. They would work alongside them for a year or two training and teaching them and fully outfitting the facility with what they need to be successful. Where I live, they just leave the packages at your doorstep and there is no need for a signature. So there is no backup in deliveries…the package goes out, get dropped off, a picture is taken of the delivery and the delivery is done. Next. UPS notifies the receiver of the day of delivery and the receiver can track the package. Does Amazon have a warehouse in Malta? If not they should. They hire their own fleet of delivery trucks and drivers, but since Malta is so small it may not be feasible for them to do so.
Yup. I’ve been in there before with zero staff in sight on a Saturday afternoon. It felt abandoned. I could have literally taken anything.
Some might walk in to collect one and walk out with 3 ….
I’ve been waiting for my parcel for a week now. We can just go there and pick it up ourselves???
Yup this happens when a facility is absolutely overwhelmed. Happened to a building i was at in like 2018.
Drivers would run outa hours wither there own routes 14 hour days so they couldnt come in a touch other package. The larger boxes like this sat to get the majority of the volume out.
I went there a week ago, they had double that amount of boxes. I had a big box and although I paid DHLexpress (2days)the supplier sent it through UPS. Hence, I went there to pick it myself since I knew they would take a week to deliver. that is the case with everything you buy online in Malta, the last mile takes ages
u/UPS
can i really just walk there and get my parcel ? how does that work? will they ask me for something like ID ??
There are cameras, inside and outside, try taking something that isn’t yours 😉
