Turkey continues to remain an important partner of Albania in international trade.
The Institute of Statistics recently published the foreign trade report for the period January–November, according to which Turkey ranks as Albania’s second-largest trading partner, accounting for 7.3% of total trade volume.
Trade exchanges with Turkey increased during the 11 months of this year, reaching 82.3 billion lek.
According to data for the January–November period, Albanian exports to Turkey are estimated at 4.8 billion lek, up from 4.7 billion lek in the same 11-month period of 2024, while imports during the 11-month period are estimated at 77.5 billion lek.
From Turkey, during the January–November period, imports amounted to 25.4 billion lek in construction materials and metals, as well as 9.3 billion lek in textiles and footwear. Meanwhile, imports of chemical and plastic products are estimated at 10.7 billion lek.
The most exported products from Albania to Turkey are minerals and metals, aromatic and medicinal plants, and fashion products.
Albania has a free trade agreement with Turkey, signed in 2006 and entered into force in May 2008. Through this agreement, the two countries are creating opportunities to increase trade exchanges between them.
Albanian exporters can benefit from the free trade agreement between Albania and Turkey, which gives them the opportunity to export a number of Albanian products to the Turkish market without customs duties or with tariff quotas.
Exports of industrial products of Albanian origin are fully liberalized. Meanwhile, for agricultural products, the parties have mutually granted each other preferential tariffs and tariff quotas.
