DENVER (KKTV) – The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) warned of a possible measles exposure at Denver International Airport on Friday.

According to health officials, an out-of-state traveler with a confirmed case of measles traveled through the airport while infectious.

CDPHE said the traveler arrived at gate B45 in the B concourse at 7:24 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, then departed from gate B84 in the B concourse at 9:41 p.m.

Those who may have been exposed on either flight will be notified by their state or local public health agency, according to CDPHE.

Health officials said the risk of transmission is low since the passenger was fully vaccinated and had mild symptoms, but transmission is still possible.

If you were at DIA between 7 and 11:55 p.m. on Friday, the health department said you should watch for symptoms for 21 days after exposure, through Jan. 2. If symptoms develop, you are asked to call a health care provider, urgent care or emergency department before going in and let providers know you may have been exposed.

For those traveling during the busy holiday season, CDPHE said there is a higher likelihood of exposure in areas where large numbers of people gather.
