Time for the yearly fun fact Ris á la Malta:
At christmas in Sweden many eat maltese rice. Rice pudding/rice porridge mixed with whipped cream and cherry sauce or something similar.

The name seems to maybe derive from maltese oranges (a la Malte, with oranges, often from Malta) where the dish once upon a time was served with oranges. Or someone just misheard danish (it happens) and their rice with almonds (risalamande, riz à l’amande).
