Income Below the Threshold: The Number of Low-Income Residents in Latvia Calculated

At the end of November, there were 18,553 people in the country with low-income status. This is 10.4% less than at the end of November last year.

The income threshold for recognizing a household as low-income is 50% of the median income. In 2025, this threshold for the first or only member of the household is set at 377 euros, and for other household members — 264 euros.

In turn, each municipality has the right to set the income threshold for recognizing a household as low-income at no more than 80% of the median income, but not lower than the income threshold for a low-income household.

The maximum income threshold for a low-income household in the case of the first or only member is 604 euros, and for other members — 423 euros.
