The Kosovo Food and Veterinary Agency (KFVA), referring to a notification received from the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), has informed the public that during an inspection of a shipment of MDM chicken meat imported from Poland, produced by CEDROB S.A., Ubojnia Drobiu Ujazdówek, and imported by the company KAJMAK SHPK from Prizren, the presence of the bacterium Salmonella spp. was detected, KosovaPress reports.
“Following the receipt of the notification from RASFF and at the request of the company KAJMAK SHPK, inspections carried out by the Kosovo Food and Veterinary Agency confirmed the presence of salmonella in a quantity of 2,064 kilograms of chicken meat. After the detection of this case, the imported quantity was destroyed in accordance with applicable legal procedures and food safety standards,” the statement said.
The Kosovo Food and Veterinary Agency continues to closely monitor the situation and to cooperate closely with local and international institutions, as well as with businesses involved in meat imports, with the aim of identifying and preventing similar cases, in order to ensure safe food in compliance with European standards.
