So i’ve been in Norway for 4.5 months. I am that annoying guy who always wears shorts, no matter the weather or temperature. I got so used to the "cold" in Norway, that people were already warning me i would get too hot when i’d go back to Belgium. But now that I am back in Belgium, I’m FREEZING.
I know there are legitimate reasons and explanations for this, but this big difference is not normal at all. Climate is broken.

theres a cold wave in europe (its just normal december temps but we got used to abnormally warm ones)
Yes, we are really fucked as a planet. You’ll see wild varying degrees of denial in this thread and anger against me for saying it, and that is also pretty typical in Norway. I think it’s some of the first expressions of mass grief in humanity experiencing this incoming hell.
Anyway sorry for the ramble. You’re correct; this is bad. Merry Christmas mate
You have been deprived of tasty heart-shaped waffles is the issue.
The west coast of Norway has a lot milder climate than the rest of Norway because of warm currents from the Gulf of Mexico. It’s colder inland.
When I grew up, -20c was not unusual in december/January. And temperature changes of 5 or 10 degrees within a couple days were also normal.
Kinda depends where in Norway you are
I’m at 71°N and it’s raining here now 😐
We had cold weather and snow last week, now all is dark, wet and non-stick.
I was born in a Mediterranean country and lived there for 18 years. Winters were pretty much common to have 1m of snow for around 2 months AT LEAST, the temperature not going over -5 °C for 2 months at least, and -20 °C was also a common thing. Germany (where i live now) was pretty cold too. Now, my birthplace barely has any snow; temperatures are rarely below -5 °C during winter, and snowfall is typically around 30-40 cm, which is usually gone by the next day. O.o Now, i’m in Germany, I’ve never seen such a sunny place like here, and i freakin’ hate it! I love winter! In 40 years of my life, I have never had a sunny December without rain or snow at all, and this one is just like that. AND, just 2 days ago it was 12+ °C every day, morning around 4 °C, and NOW it’s -8 °C, during the day it was -4°C. Insane shift! But of course, still sunny. 🙂 I freakin’ hate what’s going on with climate. I didn’t see the real winter on the continent for 12-13 years. So, yeah, as you mentioned, the climate is broken as hell!
it’s the moisture. below zero there is very little in the air but around 5 degrees you get a lot which conducts heat. need to wear thicker stuff to compensate
